What if there was a NWMO area football championship and it wasn't settled by voting like college football but rather in a tournament like you have all likely seen in the movie the Hoosiers. What would happen? Well, in this complete hypothetical, I came up with the 8 team field which would have conference champions from the GRC, MEC & KCI conferences and 5 at large teams. (Note, I had to project this of course on the conference champions). Also, no matter what your schedule was, you had to have a winning record, otherwise, no dice.
1) Maryville - MEC champions
2) Lawson - KCI champions
3) Hamilton - GRC champions
At large teams:
3) Platte County
5) South Harrison
Computer Rankings from Maxpreps.com decided the seedings once in but champions got the first round home games and top 3 seeds.
1. Maryville - 32nd ranked.
2. Hamilton - 44th ranked.
3. Lawson - 72nd ranked.
4. Chillicothe - 34th ranked.
5. Cameron - 45th ranked.
6. Savannah - 73rd ranked.
7. Platte County - 97th ranked.
8. South Harrison - 114th ranked.
So, the 1st round matchups would go as follows:
South Harrison at Maryville - This game will actually happen in districts but in this dream world, it would be a 1st round game in the NW Tournament.
Platte County at Hamilton - Could Hamilton upset a huge school like Platte County?
Savannah at Lawson - What a game as two power running games would collide.
Cameron at Chillicothe - Another game that will take place in real life as the rivals would bang heads in the 1st round.
On Tuesday, I'll be back with the 1st round results but until then, feel free to muck it up in this fantasy world on the Forum!
